Ribbon Skirt Making with Indigenous Student Circle

Posted On Wednesday May 01, 2024

From Friday, April 18 to Friday, April 26, Grade 8 and Grade 12 students from the Indigenous Student Circle sewed their own ribbon skirts and shirts with community partner, Mel Roberts. Mel showed the students how to measure out their fabric, choose various colours and patterns, and sew the fabrics together to make their ribbon skirts and shirts. The fabrics were from Creators Gifts, an organization that sells fabrics and materials designed by Indigenous designers. The students were very excited that they made their own clothing and were proud of the accomplishment.
